New EP: Wire! - 10.03.2007
This is exciting! This is very, very exciting! I am excited! The seminal punk band known as Wire (responsible for the brilliant Pink Flag, Chairs Missing, and 154) have announced a brand spankin' new EP. Entitled Read & Burn 3 (obviously the third in the Read & Burn series), the EP is set for release on November 12th via Wire's own Pinkflag label:
01. 23 Years Too Late
02. Our Time
03. No Warning Given
04. Desert Driving
This simply screams future news of future new albums. Like I said - very, very exciting!!

Nicole Atkins goes to Neptune City on debut LP - 10.03.2007
Singer-songwriter Nicole Atkins is now officially part of the club due to her involvement with the Feist/Grizzly Bear/Mates of State/A.C. Newman mishmosh performance on Letterman awhile back, and now she's come even farther by releasing her debut full-length album.
Entitled Neptune City, the album's music is rooted in NYC's anti-folk scene and takes elements of vaudeville/cabaret paired with dreamy country-pop. The album will be out October 30th - in the meantime, you can preview some of her stuff, right here, right now:
mp3: "Party's Over"
mp3: "The Way It Is"

Pass the Hatchet, I think there's another Yo La Tengo tour - 10.03.2007
This time around, the Yo La Tengo tour is not just for the album-du-jour (like the 2006 I Am Not Afraid of You and I Will Beat Your Ass showcase), but instead will feature the band in acoustic, storytelling-style. Entitled "The Freewheeling Yo La Tengo Tour," the shows will be interactive, almost entirely acoustic sets from the band's extensive catalog. The tour is meant to serve as a way of gaining more insight into the life of Yo La Tengo through both audience interaction and a dive into the band's musical history:
10/06 Brooklyn Lyceum - Brooklyn, NY
10/09 Andy Warhol Museum - Pittsburgh, PA
10/10 Buskirk-Chumley Theater - Bloomington, IN
10/11 Lakeshore Theater - Chicago, IL
10/12 Discovery World At Pier Wisconsin - Milwaukee, WI
10/13 Fine Arts Center (Calvin College) Grand - Rapids, MI
10/19 Jeanne Rimsky Theater Port - Washington, NY
10/20 Colony Cafe & Arts Center - Woodstock, NY
10/22 First Unitarian Church - Philadelphia, PA
10/23 Birchmere - Alexandria, VA
10/27 ManiFest - Mexico City, MX
10/29 Aladdin Theater - Portland, OR
10/30 Town Hall - Seattle, WA
11/01 The Palace of Fine Arts - San Francisco, CA
11/04 Museum of Contemporary Art - San Diego, CA
11/10 Mass MoCA - North Adams, MA
11/11 Cornell University - Ithaca, NY
11/15 Museum of Fine Arts - Boston, MA
