Hear Scorpion Child’s roaring new single “Actress”

Next Friday, February 14, Scorpion Child will release their new album, I Saw the End As It Passed Right Through Me via Noize in the Attic Records. And today, the Austin, Texas band has shared a new single from the album, “Actress,” a high-energy surge of stoner rock swirled with psychedelia and goth-rock, reminiscent of The Cult at their most roaring, or a more post-punk influenced counterpart to groups like Graveyard or Witchcraft. Hear it below.
Vocalist Aryn Jonathan Black said in a statement: “Musically, this jam was fun to make! Lyrically, “Actress” challenged me. The song chronicles my look into existentialism as it relates to purpose. It goes further into the concept of seeing things as absolute rather than relative. Again, the question of “what is real?” “Who can we trust?” Do we view others for a sum of their value and/or accomplished manifestations, or do we bother to break down what’s behind their convictions? “Actress” made me think long and hard about our individual game in life and how it affects and relates to the lives of those we interact with, and how we manipulate things to fit our ideas of reality. Also, there is talk of us living in a simulation. These topics, while they can cause many eyes to roll, also intrigue me.”
