Jamila Woods announces new album, LEGACY! LEGACY!

Late last year, Jamila Woods released an epic video for her standout single “Giovanni,” which we named an Essential Track. And now, the Chicago R&B artist and poet has announced a new album, titled LEGACY! LEGACY! The album will be released May 11 via Jagjaguwar. That’s the album’s artwork above. “Giovanni” is included on the album, and all of the song titles are tributes to Black artists, including “Miles” (Davis), “Sun Ra”, “Baldwin” (as in James) and “Eartha” (Kitt). The next single from the album is “Zora,” named for Zora Neale Hurston, and you can check out the video below.
